Southfield Police search for attempted criminal sexual conduct suspect

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., (WXYZ) - Southfield Police are investigating a report of an attempted criminal sexual assault at an apartment complex.

Police say it happened on May 18, at the Providence Towers Apartments located on the 16000 block of West Nine Mile Road.

Authorities say a 24-year-old female reported someone who identified themselves as "Kevin," from Consumers Energy, pushed his way into the apartment when she answered the door.

The victim reports the suspect had a gun and attempted to remove her clothing but failed to do so because she resisted. She says the suspect then tried to choke her and put a rag in her mouth but her continued resistance caused him to run out of the apartment.

Police describe the suspect as an 18-23-year-old black male with a medium complexion 5'7", skinny with short nappy hair and a short nappy beard. He was wearing a white t-shirt, gray 'washed,' jeans and new looking white sandals.

The suspect also had a Metro PCS cell phone attached to the waist of his pants. He was seen leaving the parking lot of the complex in a dark colored Honda Acura or Civic.
