FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (WXYZ) - Eastbound I-696 near Halsted in Farmington Hills has been reopened as workers have finally removed a tanker that crashed on Monday.

The truck flipped into a ditch Monday afternoon.

The accident caused periodic closures of the freeway while crew worked to remove it. The final closure came just after the Tuesday morning rush and lasted until 11:00 a.m.

7 Action News has learned that the tanker was loaded with 10,000 pounds of fuel.
