TROY, Mich. (WXYZ) - Troy Police say they have arrested a man in connection with the death of his 3-month-old daughter.
Officers say they received a 911 call about an unresponsive infant at around 2:30 a.m. Monday morning.
They responded to the scene and say they were met by the baby's hysterical mother, who sent them to the basement.
Police say they found the baby lying on the rug in the basement bedroom, with the father standing several feet away.
Ambulance crews also responded to the scene. They tried to resuscitate the baby and transported her to St. Johns Hospital Oakland, where the girl was pronounced dead shortly after 3:00 a.m.
An autopsy was performed Monday, and the Oakland County Medical Examiner's office concluded that the baby had died of blunt force trauma. They ruled the death a homicide.
The father was taken into custody. Police say they anticipate that they will submit a warrant request to the Oakland County Prosecutor's office sometime Wednesday.
The investigation is ongoing.
