FERNDALE, Mich., (WXYZ) - Two men were arrested Tuesday evening at a Ferndale motel for prostitution in connection with the Backpage.com website.

In a press release Wednesday Ferndale Police say a man who was stopped by officers around 7:45 p.m. admitted he went to the Motorama Motel at 8 Mile Road and Woodward in response to an online advertisement for transsexual escort services.

An arrest was made after an undercover officer called the number advertised and arranged for he and another officer to meet a prostitute for services.

19-year-old Artel Martin and 28-year-old William Patterson were arrested upon arriving at the motel room. Both had several warrants for their arrest.

Officers also found marijuana in the room.

Arraignments are expected Wednesday afternoon.

Early this month, charges were announced in the Backpage.com murder investigation after the bodies of four women were discovered in a car trunk in December.
