TROY, Mich (wxyz) - Two Troy homes were broken into while families slept. The thieves took electronics and cars that were parked in the driveways.

Brandon Wright says it's upsetting, but as long as his children and he and his wife are safe, that is all that matters.

He says the rest is "stuff" and can be replaced.  He adds, though, that he loves his orange Dodge Challenger with black stripes and a Hemi engine.

Less than a mile away, while another husband, wife and young son slept, there was another break-in-- also through a back door wall.

An Xbox, video games, a wallet and the keys to another car were taken--this time, a Mercedes.

Both couples say they are actually glad they didn't wake up because you never know what could happen during a confrontation.

Anyone with information about the grey Mercedes or the orange Dodge Challenger is asked to call police in Troy or in any city right away.

Police recommend outside sensor lights and securing door walls with a jam or even a hockey stick.
