Use your smartphone to pay for parking in Birmingham now

(WXYZ) - Starting today, people using the parking meters in Birmingham will have another payment option.

Forget searching through your car for coins, just grab for your smart phone.

By registering at Parkmobile.com , you can use either the app, the internet, or call toll free 800-280-4146 to pay by credit card for your parking space.

Be warned though, using Parkmobile.com will add a fee per transaction depending on how you choose to use the service. There’s a standard $0.43 per transaction fee and a preferred customer fee that would cost $1.75 per month plus a $0.35 per transaction fee.

Birmingham is the sixth city in Michigan to adopt this new system. In Metro Detroit, Dearborn and Ferndale are also using Parkmobile.com .
