(WXYZ) - A Waterford Township travel agent accused of conning more than one hundred customers has been sentenced to between 4 and 10 years in prison.
The sentencing comes after Penny Kane pleaded no contest to ten criminal charges related the scam back in June. Police say the 50-year-old stole more than $300,000 leaving the would-be travelers without their vacations.
Before the sentencing, more than a dozen victims spoke to the court. In all, more than 70 victims were in court for the hearing.
One victim said, "No amount of restitution can make up for the heartache and broken dreams you've cause.
Another told the court, "While she languishes in jail, we're still trying to make up for this loss."
In addition to the prison sentence, Kane was ordered to pay $369,996.78. However, during the sentencing the judge said he doubted she would ever pay the money back.
Kane said she hopes she proves him wrong.
