(WXYZ) - Rosaline Ransom Lee’s 9-month-old daughter will now have to grow up without a mother. Fishermen found the 32-year-old’s body floating Sunday morning just beyond a guardrail in Pontiac’s Terry Lake – not far from where Lee lived. She had been strangled.
“It was a female right there – I was like that’s a body! I called 911,” said Ron Esparra, who lives just a few houses away.
Neighbors along Lake Side Drive say they were stunned by the horrible discovery. All of Lee’s clothing was gone except for her shirt. Because of that – detectives are trying to determine if Lee was sexually assaulted.
“It was a sad day for the block yesterday. We don’t like to see something like this happen,” said neighbor Ron Davis.
“Last time she was seen or heard of around 3:00 am on Sunday. We’d like to know anything that lead up to what she was doing at 3:00 in the morning,” said Oakland County Sheriff’s Captain Tim Atkins.
Lee was last known to be driving a minivan – and now Oakland County Sheriff’s detectives want to know if anyone saw the 2001 White Dodge Caravan in the hours leading up to her murder.
Investigators say Lee’s van was found on Burt, just 3/4 of a mile from the lake. A neighbor noticed the minivan early Sunday morning – probably within hours of Lee’s body being left in the lake.
“At this point we’re not ruling out anyone. It’s an ongoing investigation today. We’re all in here today, following up some leads. What we’re asking for now is anybody who may know anything – anything seen, heard on Sunday, early morning Sunday, to give us a call,” said Captain Atkins.
The van is now covered in the powder used to detect fingerprints – but sheriff’s officials hope the distinctive rusted dent on the driver’s side will jog someone’s memory - to help solve this homicide.
