YALE, Mich. (WXYZ) - Police are investigating the murder of a man in Yale. Officers have three people in custody. Sources say one of them is the couple's adopted daughter.
Police say early Friday morning two masked men broke into the Skinner's house on South Main Street just after midnight. They then went upstairs and stabbed both Paul and his wife, Mara, who was asleep. The husband then chased both attackers out of the house before collapsing in the living room.
Paul was pronounced dead at the scene. Mara was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for multiple stab wounds. She is in serious but stable condition.
Police say the woman is a teacher at Yale Junior High School. The man is her husband. The couple has four children. Two other children were not in the house at the time. The daughter who is in custody is actually the Skinner's niece. She was adopted by the couple.
