ANN ARBOR (WXYZ) - The annual Be a Hero at the Big House event kicked off Sunday morning hoping to attract large numbers of people to donate blood.

This is the second year the blood drive has partnered up with organizations allowing volunteers to not only donate blood but also organs and to be tested to become blood marrow donors.

It has become a popular competition between Michigan and its biggest rival Ohio State.

Doors opened at the Big House around 8 a.m. and the event ends at 6 p.m. Sunday.
