Ypsilanti Township, Mich (WXYZ) - Deputies in Washtenaw County are on the lookout for a man who tried to kidnap a child.
They say it happened in Ypsilanti Township, on the 7400 block of Knollwood around 8:00p.m. Tuesday night.
Investigators say the 7-year-old girl was trying to walk home from a friend's home a couple doors down from her's when she saw a man. He asked her if she wanted a balloon and candy. When she said no, he started running towards her. She told investigators he grabbed at her as she ran, but she was able to make it to her home.
She described the man as a middle aged and white. He had a red shirt, blue jeans, a hat, a long beard, long brown hair and a backpack.
Investigators say she did not see his vehicle, but 7 Action News found a neighbor who spotted a suspicious man in a blue van around 7:30 p.m.. The man fit the girl's description. Investigators are following up on this lead.
