ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WXYZ) - Artists from all over the world are doing their best to stay hydrated while setting up their work for the popular Ann Arbor Art Fair in the scorching heat.
Organizers for the four art fairs that converge into one of the largest in the country spent Tuesday delivering free cold water to the artists as they set up their booths across downtown Ann Arbor.
The fire department is expected to convert a number of hydrants into free tap water stations for fairgoers to fill up their own bottles and stay hydrated as they stroll through the art fair.
Craig Sidelinger of the Ann Arbor Fire Department says it's important to drink plenty of water and stay cool.
"If someone is in distress, it's important that you activate the 911 system early," Sidelinger tells 7 Action News. "This isn't something to play around with. This is a very serious thing. We often take it for granted when it's hot like this, but it's important that you get these people cool and get fluid into them if they are awake and conscious. And call your medical providers in your community to assist".
Air-conditioned trolleys will also be operating during the big art fair. And an all-day pass only costs a buck.
