HARPER WOODS, Mich. (WXYZ) - Three children huddled together in the closet and called police as two people tried to break into their home in Harper Woods.

9-1-1 DISPATCHER:  “What’s the problem there?”

10-YEAR-OLD GIRL: “Umm, I think someone is breaking in the house.  We just came home from school and put our pajamas on and we are really scared and our mom is on the way here!”

The heart pounding call is of the 10-year-old girl talking to a 9-1-1 dispatcher.  The girl said that she has her 7-year-old brother and 5-year-old brother hiding in the closet with her.

9-1-1 DISPATCHER: “Do you hear them at the front door?”

10-YEAR-OLD GIRL: “No, we hear them at the back door and we are really scared!”

The call gets even more frightening when the children hear the thieves busting out the back window to get inside the home.

9-1-1 DISPATCHER:  “Do you hear them at the back door?”

10-YEAR-OLD GIRL:  “Yes, they’re coming in now!  Okay, just stay on the line with me.  Okay.”

The 10-year-old stayed calm enough to tell the dispatcher where they lived and that they had come home from school early because they had half a day.  It was around 11 a.m. on Monday.

9-1-1 DISPATCHER: “Where are you guys at?”

10-YEAR-OLD GIRL: “We are in the closet because we are really, really, scared!”

The young girl’s bravery and quick thinking saved them.  Police say the suspects were scared off by the police sirens and because a dresser had been blocking the window.

9-1-1 DISPATCHER: “An officer is coming to the door.  Can you let him in?”

10-YEAR-OLD GIRL:  “Okay.”

The girl had also told the dispatcher that their mother had already planned on coming home from work early to be with them because they had half a day.  During the 9-1-1 the girl she also mentioned that this is not the first time someone has broken into the home.

Police arrested the 16-year-old and the 17-year-old suspected of trying to break into the home.  A second 17-year-old, a female, was also arrested suspected of being the getaway driver.
