DETROIT (WXYZ) - Bob Bashara has been formally arraigned on a first degree murder charges connected to the death of his wife, Jane.
Today's court appearance was his first since the prosecutor announced charges a few weeks ago.
During the hearing he told the magistrate he was not currently represented by an attorney and said "I' m trying to raise funds for an attorney."
Jane Bashara's body was found in her Mercedes-Benz, which was left in a Detroit alley in January 2012.
Joseph Gentz, a handyman, has pleaded guilty to strangling her. Gentz says Bob Bashara threatened to kill him if he didn't murder Jane.
Robert Bashara is already in prison serving a 6 to 20 year sentence. He pleaded guilty to trying to have Gentz killed in the Wayne County jail.
7 Action News spoke with Jane's sister, Julie, over the phone. She said her family would not be at the arraignment and they had no statement to make.
