Pawn shop owner says woman offered sex act by her daughter and herself for payment

SOUTHGATE, Mich (WXYZ) - A Southgate pawn shop owner says a mother who came to his store offered both herself and her young daughter for a sex act instead of a payment. The shop's owner called police and protective services.

It reportedly happened at DaSilva's Pawn shop late Monday. 

The mother owed  the shop $25  and a clerk says she told him she didn't have the money. Instead, she allegedly told the clerk she and her daughter would perform a sex act on him in the back room. 

The clerk says he didn't answer and didn't even look at the woman because he was so shocked. "I couldn't look at her, I was disgusted," he says.

The clerk says when the daughter heard what her mother said, she said something like, "just you mom, not me." 

The clerk said that made him feel even worse.  He gave the woman an extension on her payment, but told the owner what happened after she left.

The owner tells 7 Action News he called police and told them he was going to the woman's house to check on the young girl if they didn't. However, officers did go to the woman's home.

A statement issued by Child Protective Services says they are grateful for people who report suspected abuse. They say they check out reports of abuse, along with law enforcement, and if they feel a child is in immediate danger, the child would be removed from a home. 

In this case that did not happen.  It is reported police did do a welfare check on the child at the home and  that they believed she was safe.

Southgate Police say they have a report and an investigation will be started.
