A Wayne County Commissioner sent out thousands of emails asking if Robert Ficano should step down

WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. (WXYZ) - Wayne County Commissioner Kevin McNamara sent out 7,000 emails to his constituents talking to them about trust in government and asking them to take a one-minute survey about Wayne County Executive Robert Ficano.

McNamara says he wants to know two things: Should Ficano be asked to step down and why?

McNamara, who is in his third term, says he doesn't believe Ficano has done anything illegal and the FBI has not named Ficano as a target of its ongoing investigation. But McNamara does believe Ficano has made many leadership mistakes and he is worried about the future of the county with Ficano at the helm. He's been under fire since the 7 Action News Investigators exposed a severance scandal in his administration.

Still, McNamara says he wants to know what the people he represents are feeling about the situation before he takes any action such as asking Ficano to resign.

McNamara says even if all the commissioners did ask the county executive to resign, he would not have to comply.
