GROSSE POINTE FARMS, Mich. (WXYZ) - A candlelight vigil was held in front of Grosse Pointe South High School for the family of Jane Bashara, the Grosse Pointe Park mom who was found dead in the back of her Mercedes SUV on Detroit's northeast side.
More than 100 people prayed, sang and shared their memories. When Jane's husband and daughter showed up, there were endless hugs and expressions of sympathy.
It was held in front of the school because friends say Jane was a leader there, president of the mom's association when her two children attended.
One is in college now and the other is out of college, but Jane mentored many at the school and their love and admiration for her was so evident. Through tears, Allison Baker said "She was a wonderful woman, my best friend and she was so good to so many." "She can never be replaced," said Kathy Groschner, also with tears.
At the end, Bob Bashara thanked everyone and stayed while many more people embraced him.
