CANTON - Nearly a week after his flight was canceled from New York to Detroit, a Canton man has returned home.
Adrian Clements was visiting his wife, Cheryl, who works in New York City when his flight back to Canton was canceled on Sunday, October 28. The two weathered Superstorm Sandy together.
“New York is the city that never sleeps, the City of Lights, and it was completely dark,” remembered Cheryl. “It was really surreal.”
They couple had power until Monday night. It would be four days before it would come back. Despite losing electricity, heat and hot water, they considered themselves lucky. The Clements have now seen the devastation in surrounding communities, and although they’re back in Michigan, their thoughts are hundreds of miles away.
“All things considered, it could’ve been a lot worse, and it certainly was for thousands and thousands more people,” said Adrian.
