(WXYZ) - Representatives from Delta confirm that a flight headed from Detroit to Narita, Japan had to be turned back due to a system malfunction.

Delta Flight 275 which had 296 passengers aboard had just taken off when the radio went out.

We’re told the crew thought they could fix the problem in-flight, but when they couldn’t, the plane turned around and came back to Detroit.

The problem couldn’t be fixed after landing in time to make Narita’s curfew so the passengers will be flying out Monday morning on a different flight number.
