ROCKWOOD, Mich. (WXYZ) - A former Rockwood Police Officer has been charged with assaulting a female prisoner who was in his custody at the time of the incident.
Thirty-three-year-old Christian Zieminski has been charged with 2nd Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, 4th Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and Misconduct in Office.
The Rockwood Police Department would not comment on the incident. In a statement, the department said Zieminski is no longer employed there.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's office says Zieminski used force or coercion to have inappropriate sexual contact with the woman.
“These are very serious allegations that, if proven to be true, undermine the trust which citizens must have in our police officers,” said Prosecutor Kym Worthy said in a news release. “We will treat Christian Zieminski just as we would any other defendant.”
Zieminski has been arraigned on the charges and given a $20,000 personal bond. He is due back in court on Monday, September 10.
