Fundraiser set for family of 13-year-old killed in tragic accident, family speaks out

BROWNSTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich (wxyz) - "It's like a bad nightmare," says the mom of 13-year-old Tatyana Sawka as they get ready for a fundraiser in her daughter's memory. "She was a beautiful child inside and out", says Nicole Sawka.

Tatyana's mom, brothers and sister sat down to talk about their incredible loss and also the amazing outpouring of support and love for them.

They says it is hard to believe so many people have offered money and love as well.

Tatyana and Brianne Meyers were killed back on April 9th when they were hit by a full size van right in front of Tatyana's home on West Road in Brownstown Township.  The driver did stop.

On Saturday from noon to 7 at Marlow's Chill and Grill restaurant on Telegraph Road south of West Road, there will be a spaghetti dinner and silent auction and all the proceeds will go to the Sawka family.

"When everything seems so horrible, it shows people are still good ," says Sawka.
