ROMULUS, Mich. (WXYZ) - A TSA investigation is underway after a gun was found in a bathroom at Detroit Metro Airport.
The Transportation Security Administration says the firearm was found in a McNamara Terminal bathroom by a passenger around 5 p.m. Monday.
The TSA says the passenger turned the gun over to local law enforcement at the airport.
The weapon is the property of a federal law enforcement officer.
It's unknown whether the gun was loaded.
The TSA says they are investigating the incident and will take appropriate disciplinary action as necessary.

At approximately 5 p.m., Eastern time, a passenger at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County International Airport (DTW), McNamara Terminal, discovered a firearm inside a restroom. The firearm is the property of a federal law enforcement officer authorized to carry it inside the sterile area. The passenger turned the firearm over to local law enforcement. There was no impact to TSA operations. TSA is reviewing the circumstances and will take appropriate disciplinary action as necessary.
