Inkster police investigate double murder

INKSTER (WXYZ) - A neighbor found two men unconscious in the street near the intersection of Cherry and Hickory in Inkster and called police Sunday morning.

Investigators discovered the victims, believed to be in their 20s were shot multiple times.

“We believe this happened sometime [Saturday night] because they have been out here for quite a while.  This is a secluded area,” said Inkster police Chief Hilton Napoleon.

One neighbor, who does not want to be identified, said he was not aware of the murders until he saw the police cruisers.  “I hadn’t heard anything because they shoot fireworks and stuff around here so we don’t know what’s going on,” said the neighbor.

Napoleon believes the victims were involved in some type of drug transaction. “It appears to be that way because they were shot at close range,” said Napoleon.  “They knew the people.  We believe they knew the people and because of how secluded it is…there’s no reason for them to be back here.”

No arrests have been made.

The crimes are making some question the neighborhood they live in. “I’m going to move out of the neighborhood because I don’t really want to be around this,” said the unidentified neighbor.  “I’m not used to living in a neighborhood where stuff is going on all the time.”

Police think there may have been more than one person involved in the shooting.  They are asking if you know anything about the crimes to call the Inkster Police Department’s Detective Bureau.
