LINCOLN PARK, Mich. (WXYZ) - A 52-year-old man is charged in connection with a home invasion in Lincoln Park and police say he is also a suspect in a number of other home invasions in other communities.
Elmore Nichols has been charged with felony home invasion and attempted rape, as well as receiving and concealing stolen property.
The 52-year-old was arrested Saturday morning following a home invasion at a home on Electric Avenue in Lincoln Park.
In that case a 64-year-old woman reported that a man attacked her as she slept on her couch and that he ran away after she screamed.
Police searched the area and Nichols was taken into custody in the neighborhood. Detectives say they have used recovered credit cards to link him to home invasions in Farmington Hills.
Officers say Nichols is a registered sex offender with a lengthy criminal history. Police also say his description, M.O. and vehicle match with those of suspects in other home invasions and rapes. The investigation into those crimes continues.
