EXCLUSIVE: Joe Gentz, man at center of Jane Bashara murder investigation, talks to 7 Action News

DETROIT (WXYZ) - One of the men at the center of the Jane Bashara murder investigation, Joe Gentz, spoke with 7 Action News overnight.

Jane Bashara, a Grosse Pointe mother and wife was found dead in her SUV on January 25 in the area of 7 Mile and Hoover.

Police have named her husband, Bob Bashara, as a person of interest in the case but no one has been arrested and no charges have been filed.

7 Action News Reporter Cheryl Chodun spoke on the phone with Joe Gentz, a man who went to police and told them what he says he know about Jane’s murder.

Gentz said there are a lot of things he wants people to know about him. Gentz says he’s not what people think. He says he has a lot of friends, a good heart and loves his 10-year-old daughter more than anything.

Gentz went on to say he knows he messed up and wants people to know he is sad about what happened to Jane Bashara and has cried over it. He also said he turned himself in after sitting at a Coney Island last Monday night after talking to pastor to try to figure out what to do.

Gentz, who says he is basically in hiding right now, said he will be meeting with his court appointed lawyer soon. He believes in the end the truth will come out and he says he isn’t in this alone.

Right now Gentz says he is focusing on the most important part of his live; his 10-year-old daughter.
