ROMULUS, Mich. (WXYZ) - United States Customs and Border Protection agents are celebrating a big international drug bust.
It happened on Tuesday. Agents were checking passengers who had just landed at Detroit Metropolitan Airport after a Delta flight from Amsterdam.
They say they noticed a man acting nervous.
They pulled him aside and went through his belongings. That is when they found almost four pounds of heroin.
Customs agents at DTW learned that the man is a citizen of Ghana. They are not releasing details about his identity at this time.
They arrested him and now the Department of Homeland Security is investigating whether this was a one-time crime, or part of something bigger.
They will look into all possibilities, including whether he is tied to any organizations that pose a threat to our nation.
The confiscated heroin has a street value of approximately $400,000.
