GROSSE POINTE PARK, Mich. (WXYZ) - 7 Action News has learned that a man is in police custody in connection with the murder of Sabrina Gianino.
Sources say the man lived in an upper flat, one door down from where Gianino's body was found last week.
Police say she had been strangled.
The man in custody is described as an uncle to the people who rent that upper flat. Numerous sources tell 7 Action News that the uncle had a drug problem.
On Sunday, the police took several people - who also live in the upper flat - and then released them.
Police also conducted an extensive search of the upper flat and took a lot of photos. They also took the uncle's belongings as evidence.
The events started to unfold Friday night, sources say, when police arrested three men who were in possession of Gianino's laptop, iPod and cellphone. Those three men then led police to the man who is now in custody.
No charges have been filed.
The victim's boyfriend told police he found her body in the lower flat behind where neighbors say she spent most of her nights, sources tell us.
It was a few minutes after midnight when the body of 35-year-old Sabrina Gianino was found by her boyfriend, Bruce Hunsinger inside his flat on Wayburn Street.
Sources tell 7 Action News the body was found in a small room with a cat litter box and pet supplies. There was bruising around her face and neck and a small electrical cord was wrapped around her neck.
Gianino worked as a receptionist at Platz Animal Hospital in Grosse Pointe Park. She is described as a nice quiet person who loved animals.
