DETROIT (WXYZ) - Friday, four metro Detroit counties will work in conjunction on the Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention Program event that will help residents keep their homes from falling into foreclosure.

The event will be held at the Masonic Temple and invites homeowners from Wayne, Oakland, Macomb and Washtenaw counties to attend for free.

Jamele Hage of the Wayne Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention Program says, "We want to talk with anyone who has a hardship, [anyone] who even thinks that they may have to go into foreclosure."

The program is patterned after one started in Wayne County that has helped keep 4500 homes out of foreclosure. Wayne County Executive, Robert Ficano says, "This is important to all the counties, because we depend on property taxes."

The Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention Program event will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Homeowners are asked to bring:

  • Last three pay stubs (six months P&L statement for self-employed borrowers)
  • Last year's tax returns and W-2s
  • Last two month's bank statement (four months for self-employed borrowers)
  • General Financial Statement
  • Documentation for any other income
  • Proof of property taxes paid
  • Proof of homeowners insurance paid
  • Proof of your hardship (i.e. unemployment, divorce, income reduction)
  • Photo ID
