INKSTER, Mich., (WXYZ) - Smoke could be seen for at least two miles from the roaring fire at the closed Mattress and Furniture store in Inkster.
The police and fire crews shut down Michigan Avenue for two hours while they fought the inferno. Firefighters from Wayne, Dearborn and Westland assisted in putting out the fire.
No one was injured. The Inkster fire inspector was interviewing the owner of the business. The store had recently closed after holding 'going out of business' sales.
The owner was at the building when the fire started. He declined to speak with Action News.
The fire chief says it is too early to speculate on a cause for the fire that appeared to have started in the back or office portion of the building.
