DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) - Civil rights advocacy group New Detroit Inc. has teamed up with University of Michigan-Dearborn to host a summit on race for area high school students.
The Youth Leadership Summit on Race will be held Saturday, October 27, at the university in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn. The theme is racial bullying.
The annual summit's aim is to improve race relations in southeastern Michigan's schools and communities.
The event is free but limited to 250 students. New Detroit was formed in response to the Detroit riots of 1967 to identify what went wrong, what needed to change, and how to make that change happen. You can learn more by visiting http://bit.ly/PoQhBj
