NORTHVILLE, Mich., (WXYZ) - According to Northville High School administrators, a student was recently diagnosed with an active case of Tuberculosis.
Parents were notified Monday by a letter from Principal Robert E. Watson, “The protocol followed by the Health Department is to identify other individuals who may be at higher risk of exposure to Tuberculosis during the infectious time period… and to provide an opportunity for testing the identified individuals. ”
The infectious time period in this case was January 2012 through April 2012.
Parents of students identified as having a higher risk of exposure will be notified via U.S.P.S. no later than Tuesday April 17.
“Wayne County Health Department staff members will be at Northville High School to perform tuberculosis skin tests (at no cost) on April 23 and 24, 2012 for staff members and students identified as being at higher risk only. The Health Department staff will return to evaluate the skin test on April 25 and 26, 2012,” noted Monday’s letter.
Students not identified as higher risk may still be tested at the Wayne County Health Department TB Clinic for a $10 fee.
