Police released no new developments in the Jane Bashara murder case

GROSSE POINTE PARK, Mich. (WXYZ) - Police released no additional information on Saturday in the murder case of Jane Bashara.

The Grosse Pointe Park marketing executive’s body was found in her luxury vehicle on January 25, one day after she was reported missing by her husband Bob Bashara.

This past Tuesday police sources told 7 Action News Joe Gentz walked into the Grosse Pointe Park police department and confessed to having a part in Jane’s murder and said her husband was also involved.

But that’s a story, Gentz has reportedly changed multiple times, and possibly the reason he was released from police custody on Friday.

Bashara has been formally named as a person of interest, but is not under arrest.

On Saturday morning, he briefly came out of his home to pick up a parcel, but slipped back inside without saying a word to reporters.

His attorney, David Griem, has done most of the talking, and has said he doubts his client will be charged.

Bashara was once Gentz’s landlord and had used him as a handyman to do some work on some of his properties, but the two apparently had a dispute over some money.

Since being released, Gentz has made himself scarce. Neighbors haven’t seen him at his Grosse Point Park home or at Janet’s Lunch diner, which he visited almost daily for the last six months.

In fact, two days before turning himself in, Joe stopped by the diner. “He was friendly, said Alison Colosi, the diner’s owner. “I never thought he’d be involved with something like this.”
