Police search for mother accused of punching and leaving baby in Highland Park park

HIGHLAND PARK, Mich., (WXYZ) - Highland Park Police are looking for a young woman who left her baby in a local park.
Witnesses say 22-year-old Shayean Blackmon was drunk, punched the baby in the face and left it in a park.
Blackmon is from Detroit and officials say, she already has a case pending before Child and Protective Services for neglect and drinking.
Action News cameras caught up with her outside her home. She denied the witness accounts before leaving, saying she was heading to the police station to turn herself in.
The baby was taken to Children's Hospital to be checked out and will be released into the custody of a great grandfather. A 4-year-old brother is also being transferred into the man's care.
It's not clear what, if any charges Blackmon could be facing.
