(WXYZ) - The prosecution in the Kilpatrick corruption trial is expected to rest its case today, making way for the defense to take center stage.

Seven Action News has learned that former city councilwoman Sharon Mc Phail is one of the witnesses set to be called by the defense in the coming weeks.

During the former mayor's tenure the two were often at odds. However, Mc Phail later served as Kilpatrick's general counsel.

Mc Phail is quoted as saying she's rather not testify in the trial, but that she wouldn't ignore a subpoena.

Kwame Kilpatrick, his father Bernard and friend Bobby Ferguson are all on trial, accused of running a criminal enterprise out of city hall.
