WESTLAND, Mich. (WXYZ) - The stench at the Woodcrest Apartments is so overwhelming residents say it’s making them nauseous.

It all started Monday when the drains and toilets in some of the basement units started spewing raw sewage. The slime was enough to force some residents out of their homes.

“I want to throw up. I slept in my car last night,” said Alaina Abdul, one of the residents affected by the flooding.

Originally, residents said the management company told them their carpeting would only be professionally cleaned.

After Action News aired a report about the sewage issue at Woodcrest on Wednesday, residents say management has offered to replace the carpeting and let residents break their lease early if needed.
