GROSSE POINTE PARK, Mich. (WXYZ) - Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged a suspect in connection with Friday's firebombing of a home that is owned by a member of the Van Elslander family.
Charles Patterson Kay is accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail at the home in the 700 block of Whittier around 3:00 Friday morning.
The firebomb entered the home through the kitchen and did caused some damage to the home. However, the fire was put out before fire fighters arrived on scene and no one was hurt.
The 20-year-old Kay is officially charged with Arson Second Degree, Sending Explosives with Intent Causing Damage and Possession of a Molotov Cocktail.
If convicted on all charges, he could spend at least 20 years in prison.
He was arraigned on the charges Sunday morning at Grosse Pointe Park Municipal Court.
