HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. (WXYZ) - A high ranking Highland Park police officer who was the target of an Action News investigation has been fired from the department.
Highland Park Mayor DeAndre Windom tells 7 Action News that LaNesha Jones was let go because of budget cuts.
The 7 Action News Investigators raised questions about Jones' past in November 2010 .
Our story related to a November 2007 incident during which Jones, who was at that time working for the Detroit Police Department, got into a fight with another woman at Flood's Bar.
The incident led to Jones pleading no contest to aggravated assault, after which she was sentenced to one year of probation and an anger management course.
At the time of our report, the victim in the assault was questioning why Jones had been promoted to Deputy Chief, especially in light of the incident.
