HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. (WXYZ) - Investigators are on the scene of three homes damaged in a fire Sunday morning.
It's happening in the 16000 block of Curwood in Highland Park. That's near the intersection of Purtian and Hamilton.
Officials say the fire started in a vacant home and spread to the two houses on either side. One of those homes was recently purchased, the other is the home of an elderly woman.
The occupied house is the home of 87-year-old Bernice Davis, who has no insurance. Her home was damaged. While the extent of the damage isn't known, it is suspected it is mostly from smoke and water damage.
Davis says she was inside the home when a man she didn't know knocked on her door and let her know about the fire.
Fire investigators believe the fire was started by an arsonist.
