DEARBORN, Mich. (WXYZ) - A quiet parking lot off of Rotunda Road became the scene of a nightmare that unfolded before a woman and her 92-year-old father.

They were driving on the Southfield Freeway and exited at Rotunda Road. A white sedan then bumped her black Ford Edge from behind.

The woman who does not want to be identified then did what so many people do when they find themselves in a fender bender.

“I motioned to the vehicle behind me to pull off,” she says. “I couldn’t see who was behind me but I tried to find a spot where I could exchange information.”

She tells 7 Action News that when she got out of her car to check out the damage she couldn’t believe what happened next.

“Two young boys pulled out of the car with guns and approached me and my father and yelled get out of the car move away from the car,”  said the victim.

Investigators at the Dearborn Police Department suspect the criminals planned out the carjacking.

One suspect drove off in the victim’s SUV and the other one escaped in the car the two criminals were originally riding in.

They are both believed to be in their late teens.

Both victims were left stranded but not hurt.

“We were completely traumatized,” said one of the victims. “Never did I imagine at 12:05 p.m. I would be held up and gun point in my car.”

Taking Action For You, 7 Action News spoke to investigators at the Dearborn Police Department about what you should do if you find yourself in a dangerous situation.

“If you are fearful that maybe something is not right that something is going on you can go a gas station or in a public place or drive to a police station they’re probably going to follow you if they were involved in an accident,”  said Lt. Patria Penman.

Police are asking if you know anything about the carjacking that you call Dearborn Police Tip Line at (313) 943-3093 or 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
