WXYZ - The annual Cruise in Shoes 5K run will take place in Royal Oak on August 18th.
The run and walking event will begin and end at Royal Oak Shrine High School. It's all part of this years Dream Cruise experience. The race also has a quarter mile fun run for kids who are 8 years old and under.
There will be plenty of music and prizes awarded to the best Greaser and the best 50's couple.
This is just one of the many races in the Detroit area that is sponsored by Fifth Third Bank.
“Fifth Third has become known in the running community because of our continued support of signature races such as the Turkey Trot, New Years Eve Family Fun Run and River Bank Run”, stated Jack Riley, an avid runner and senior vice president of Marketing at Fifth Third Bank Eastern Michigan. “We’ve talked about bringing a run to the Dream Cruise for years and are excited about seeing the inaugural race come to fruition, Riley said.
“These races are great events that promote healthy activities for families and individuals, and provide a chance to run some of the most beautiful and unique sites in Michigan. As a matter of fact, we just introduced the Fifth Third Fitness Team, a new business resource group for employees. The response has been great in not only getting people to attend the race, but to volunteer to help”, Riley concluded.
