DETROIT (WXYZ) - It's race weekend on Belle Isle which can only mean one thing; a lot of noise!
Expect roaring grandstands, squealing tires and this year, a loud conversation on social media.
It all begins with the Q-ItUp! app. On it you can participate in a social scavenger hunt of sorts around Belle Isle called the inside track.
"We have social marketing check-in points all over the venue," said Mark Russell, President of Embark Digital.
Eight in fact. Use the app to find a check-in point then complete the social media challenge by answering a question and sharing it with friends.
Like 'How many IZOD IndyCar Series race winners have their been on Belle Isle since 2007?
Know the answer?
Tweet it. Post it to Facebook, Instagram or check-in with Foursquare, it's up to you. Just don't forget the hastags #TheInsideTrack and #DetroitGP.
"All you need is a smartphone to check in and share your experiences during race day," explains Russell.
Using your smartphone you can also locate the Grandstands and Paddock or find the nearest ATM and concessions when you're ready for a snack.
Check in at five of the kiosks and the Grand Prix will send you home with prizes. That's right; goodies just for showing up.
Remember you can find all this information by downloading the Q-ItUp! app which is free for both Android and iPhone users.
