(WXYZ) - Some Michigan lawmakers want your child's teacher to be able to take a gun to school.

The Michigan Protection Act would allow each school to decide if teachers and administrators can carry a concealed weapon onto the grounds.

The move comes as some legislators believe the gun-free zones make schools an easy target.

If it passes, officials must create guidelines for training and storing the weapons.
