Should you reward kids with cash for good grades?

(WXYZ) - A new study finds 48 percent of parents reward kids with cash for good grades.

The American Institute of CPA's found parents pay $16.60 on average for each "A", but experts warn that rewarding kids with cash may not be the best option.

Dishing out too much money can undermine a child's internal motivation, experts say.

Still, most experts agree, offering rewards for good behavior is better than punishing a child for bad behavior.

If you don't have cash to spare, there are other ways to reward children for doing well in school, such as allowing them extra time on the computer or letting them stay up past their bed time.

Most experts say, in the long-run, the best reward for a child is praise and encouragement.
