FLINT, Mich. (AP) - The mother of a 4-year-old Flint-area boy has been sentenced to at least 13 years in prison for failing to intervene while he was beaten to death by a boyfriend.

Corrine Baker and Brandon Hayes were sentenced for murder Monday in Genesee County court. Hayes got the mandatory sentence of life in prison, while Baker's shorter sentence reflected a deal worked out with prosecutors last year.

In April 2010, Dominick Calhoun was found unconscious on the floor in an apartment in Argentine Township. Police say Hayes had repeatedly beaten the boy, especially after he wet his pants.

Baker didn't seek help because she feared a call would trigger a probation violation.

Her maximum prison sentence is 30 years. The state parole board will decide how long Baker stays in prison.
