DETROIT (AP) - Police will enforce a citywide curfew during the annual fireworks show over the Detroit River.

The city says children and teens 17 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian from 6 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday unless traveling to and from work or organized sporting events.

Minors violating the curfew will be ticket. The city says parents and guardians also may receive a parental responsibility ticket.

The 54th annual fireworks show is scheduled to begin at 10:06 p.m. Monday. Tens of thousands of people are expected to pack Belle Isle, Hart Plaza and along the riverfront downtown.

Sheriff's deputies from Wayne, Oakland and Macomb County, along with the state police, are expected to support Detroit's public safety efforts during the event.
