LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Parents once again can begin enrolling their children in Michigan's prepaid tuition program.
The latest Michigan Education Trust enrollment period begins Thursday and runs through Aug. 31, 2012.
The program allows individuals and organizations to pre-purchase credits toward future tuition at any of Michigan's state university and community colleges and lock in today's tuition rates.
The credits also can be used at private and out-of-state colleges and universities and be transferred to other family members.
The contracts can be purchased to cover from one to eight semesters, with payments spread out over four to 15 years. MET purchasers receive a state income tax deduction for the total contract price, including enrollment fees.
More information can be found by calling 800-MET-4-KID (800-638-4543) or going online to SETwithMET.com.
