NEW BALTIMORE, Mich. (WXYZ) - A summer cadet is being credited with helping to save an autistic boy.
Krysta Lebeau of the New Baltimore Police Department kept her cool and organized a search when a frantic mother said her son was missing at a local beach.
Lebeau hustled lifeguards into the water to look for the child, then organized others to help search nearby.
The 7-year-old was found a few blocks away at a local church.
He was fine, and New Baltimore's police chief says Lebeau showed the quick-thinking smarts, common sense and a calm demeanor new officers need.
