Ten felons will be witnesses in the federal corruption case against ex-Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick

DETROIT (WXYZ) - A new court filing gives a glimpse of 10 of the people who will testify during the trial of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick—and all of them are felons.

A few of those listed include friends and former staff to Kilpatrick. Derrick Miller, Dedan Milton, and Kandia Milton were close to the ex-mayor and served in his administration.

Miller, who went to Cass Technological High School with Kilpatrick, was indicted in 2010, but took a plea deal on bribery and tax charges and agreed to cooperate with the government against Kilpatrick. Miller was a top aide who also helped Kilpatrick run his first mayoral bid.

Kandia Milton was a deputy mayor to Kilpatrick, but served one day as mayor when his boss was put in jail in connection to his perjury case. The Miltons were convicted of bribery and have agreed to cooperate with federal prosecutors.

The names came to light after US District Court Judge Nancy Edmunds granted defense lawyers access to  records regarding the witnesses.

Kilpatrick, his father Bernard Kilpatrick, friend Bobby Ferguson, and former city water department director Victor Mercado have all been indicted for running a criminal enterprise and other charges. They are scheduled to go to trial Sept. 6, which is expected to last several months. Hundreds of witnesses, text messages and wire tap recordings are part of the evidence that will be presented.

Others names among the 10 felons, include James Rosendall, who took bribes in connection to his job with Synagro Technologies and became an FBI informant.  

Karl Kado, who was a Cobo Center contractor, is on probation for tax evasion.
