(AP Modified) - Toyota is recalling 2.77 million vehicles worldwide including Prius Hybrid models.
The recall was prompted by problems with the vehicle's steering shaft and electric-powered motor pumps.
Toyota says the vehicles could be damaged and will not switch into hybrid mode if they aren't fixed.
In addition to Prius Hybrids, Toyota is recalling Corollas, Wishes, and other models made in Japan from 2000 until last year.
670,000 of the recalled vehicles were sold in the United States. The others were sold throughout Japan and Europe.
Toyota plans to notify affected owners by mail starting in December.
This is Toyota's second major recall in as many months.
