(WXYZ) - The U.S. Department of Transportation has confirmed that U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood will visit Detroit twice next week.

LaHood is expected to visit the North American International Auto Show on Monday January 14. The department of transportation has also confirmed he will be back in town on January 18.

LaHood has recently been at the center of regional transit discussions in the city of Detroit.

In October, Gov. Rick Snyder met with LaHood, Detroit Mayor Bing. After the meeting, they told members of the media that they were getting closer to hammering out an agreement to move a regional transit system forward.

Details of his visits were not immediately available.
